The Organisation:
The Australian Aid For Cambodia Fund (AACF) is a non-profit
overseas aid organisation, staffed by volunteers, with Head
Office in Sydney. Primarily funded from donations within
Australia, AACF's accounts are independently audited and can be viewed
online in the AACF Index of Reports.
It is a registered trust fund which was established in
1991 as the overseas wing of the Maharishi Global Administration
Through Natural Law Ltd (MGANL). MGANL is an educational
organisation registered as a not-for-profit company.
It offers programmes based on the teaching of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Cambodia is recovering from 25 years of fighting,
in which most of its infrastructure and many lives
were lost in civil war. Rural Cambodia is one of
the poorest regions in the world and educational opportunities
are limited. Cambodia is in desperate need of assistance
in the reconstruction of the nation. Economic growth
can be achieved through the provision of skills and resources.
AACF's major program is the provision of higher education
for rural youth. AACF has built, equipped and funds
a university in rural Cambodia
in the eastern province of Prey Veng near the border
of Vietnam. AACF also conducts rural development
and institutional strengthening programs.
